In our blogs recently we have been meeting members of the team here at JL Dental Care. Today we find out more about Dr Leigh-Ann Elias and the treatments which she is passionate about delivering.
“Whilst I offer all dental services and treatments here at JL Dental Care, the two areas which I have a real passion for are helping anxious patients and also giving people the straighter smile they’ve always desired using FASTBRACES®.
The reason dental anxiety or phobia is an area I am so passionate about is because my eldest sister always had a profound fear of visiting the dentist and this made me really want to help anyone in a similar situation. It was so difficult to watch her fear take over, yet once she had been treated by a dentist who took time and reassured her, the anxiety started to fade away. Primarily it’s about building trust and reassuring any anxious patient and showing that you will be able to treat any dental issue in both a pain-free and stress-free manner. The main hurdle can be coming through the door for the first appointment as I honestly believe that I, and the team here at JL Dental Care, are able to calmly help diminish any phobia. We have a number of ways to do that which I will discuss in greater detail in a full-length blog in the coming weeks.
FASTBRACES®, the second treatment which I mentioned above, is another one which has a very personal connection. I decided to ‘put my money where my mouth is’ (no pun intended) and had the treatment carried out in recent years as I had helped so many patients achieve the straighter smile they always wanted. It’s one of the best decisions I have ever made. It’s a high-performance bracket system which will normally have results in 4 months and helps anyone with crooked or misaligned teeth. It’s amazing how many people think once they’ve passed a certain age it’s too late, and spend a great portion of their lives not smiling with confidence. Yet what they may not realise is how many people in their 30’s, 40’s, 50’s and beyond who I treat, and who cannot believe that they finally can smile broadly without covering their mouth.
